steps:
- headline: Convene the gathering
description: >-
Community members convene the melan, sitting together without caste
hierarchy markings — an act of equality in itself.
- headline: Affirm shared principles
description: >-
An elder or organiser opens by affirming the principles of equality,
liberty, and fraternity, and the shared dignity of all present.
- headline: Reason on community matters
description: >-
Participants raise concerns — discrimination, access, mutual aid — and
reason together, with attention to those most affected leading.
- headline: Commit to action
description: >-
The gathering agrees on collective actions, with named people taking
responsibility for next steps.
outcome: >-
The community addresses shared concerns within a frame of equality,
strengthening solidarity against caste hierarchy.
practice: >-
The form itself — equal seating, no caste markers — does political work.
Do not let the gathering revert to hierarchy; the framing is the point.
